Gokul Hemmady is the Chief Executive Officer of Glydways. An expert in corporate finance and leadership, Gokul has previously held roles as Managing Director for Chanakya Consulting, was CFO, COO, and CEO of Nextel Brazil, and CFO of ADC Telecom. Building businesses and inspiring teams is Gokul’s passion, and he has played an integral role in transforming Glydways from the potential-filled-idea-stage to a company challenging the ways we approach solving congestion and our urban mobility dilemma. Glydways is backed by Khosla Ventures, ACS Infra, New Science Ventures and Gates Frontier.

Gokul holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Business from the University of Mumbai and an MBA from Yale.

Grounded in the belief that ingenuity and innovation should be applied to solving real-world problems, Mark Seeger has dedicated his entrepreneurial journey to providing innovative value for solutions to today’s climate crisis. With the conviction that the world’s biggest problems require infrastructural evolution on a much larger scale, Mark discovered possibly an opportunity of a century: reinventing the concept of public transit using existing infrastructure.

He founded Glydways to activate this vision: a form of public transit that can move more people than rail, using less than half of the space, which costs 90% less to build and operate while providing a private and on-demand ride every time. Most crucially, this solution can be delivered with commodity technology leveraging existing supply chains. Born in the Netherlands, Mark has spent equal parts of his life in Holland, Singapore, and the United States, giving him insight and experience into regional opportunities and challenges that exist to dramatically change how we as a society move.

Prior to founding Glydways, Mark had early careers at NASA and Apple; founded the biodegradable plastics company GreenIdea in Singapore (sold); the electric motorcycle company Mission Motorcycles and Mission Marine; as well built initiatives that focused on low-cost, high-efficiency air-conditioning for third-world countries with his company GeoCool (sold).

Mark holds an MBA and MS in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and resides in Brisbane, CA.

Blake Barber is the Chief Technology Officer of Glydways, a venture-funded startup building a new, on-demand, anytime, public transportation system. 

Blake has over 15 years of technical leadership experience in the autonomous systems industry, where he’s worked on some of the world’s most ambitious autonomous vehicle programs at leading organizations including MIT Lincoln Laboratory, Lockheed Martin, Uber’s Advanced Technology Group, and Aurora Innovation. 

Blake’s work in autonomous vehicles spans autonomous aircraft, autonomous spacecraft, and autonomous cars and trucks and has been deployed in systems all over the globe. Blake’s current work at Glydways centers on harnessing the benefits of recent developments in autonomous systems technology to enable economically and environmentally sustainable and scalable mass transit.

Uma Subramanian is the Chief Operating Officer of Glydways, which is revolutionizing the future of urban transit. With a high throughput, closed network of autonomous electric ground vehicles, Glydways, backed by Vinod Khosla, Bill Gates, and Sam Altman, is the transportation solution for the world’s most forward-thinking municipalities.

Prior to joining Glydways, Uma Subramanian was the founding CEO of Aero Technologies, a next generation air carrier for the experience economy. Uma also founded Voom.Flights, an Airbus company, which built the world’s first network for Urban Air Mobility in São Paulo and Mexico City.

Uma holds an undergraduate degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Michigan, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Uma believes that this is an extraordinary time in mobility, and looks forward to building the future of transportation.

Chris Riley is the Chief Commercial Officer at Glydways, leading strategy and growth, by supporting global business development efforts. With expertise in project solution design, strategic sales, brand management, organizational leadership, and commercial development, Chris plays a key role in expanding Glydways’ market presence and forging high-value partnerships. 

Since joining Glydways in 2022, Chris has been instrumental in sharpening go-to-market strategies, securing new projects, and cultivating strategic alliances that drive the company’s commercial success.

Prior to joining Glydways in California, Chris spent over 25 years at Ogilvy in Asia Pacific, where he held a variety of senior leadership roles across several creative enterprises, including Managing Director Hong Kong, WW Managing Director IBM Growth Markets and Group Chairman for Singapore & Malaysia. In these roles, he led teams that delivered high-impact solutions and services for global brands, driving innovation and market leadership across multiple industries and geographies.

JoAnn Covington is the Chief Legal Officer at Glydways, Inc., where she oversees legal and human resources. With an extensive background representing public and private companies in transportation, manufacturing, and software industries, she advises the company on governance, regulatory compliance, and strategic growth.

Previously, JoAnn was the Chief Legal Officer and Head of Government Relations at Proterra Inc, a manufacturer of battery electric transit buses and electric powertrain systems for commercial vehicles, and served as Senior Vice President and Chief Privacy Officer at Rocket Fuel Inc, a software company offering a predictive modeling platform leveraging big data and AI for advertisers.

She holds a JD, magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, and has been recognized for her leadership, being honored as best General Counsel of a Public Company (with revenue under $1B) for her work at Rocket Fuel.

Mariah has worked for over 15 years in public and private sector leadership roles in a diverse array of organizations. She has led Public Affairs at Cruise, and prior to that, she led Strategic Partnerships and Innovation Policy at DoorDash. Mariah also formerly led government sales and strategic partnerships at FUSE Corps, a national nonprofit that partnered with city and county governments across the country to grow their capacity to solve pressing challenges.

From 2011 to 2015, Mariah served in the administration of Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson as his Deputy Chief of Staff. She led government affairs, external affairs, education initiatives, and strategic partnerships, serving as one of the Mayor’s most trusted senior advisors. Mariah began her career as a Corps Member with Teach for America, teaching in Chicago Public Schools. She holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, a Masters in Teaching from Dominican University, and a BA in Economics and International Studies from DePaul University.

Mariah resides in the Bay Area with her husband, three children, and two fluffy cats.

Frieder Aldinger is the Senior Vice President of Project Delivery at Glydways, where he leads the strategy and execution of all Glydways projects. He is responsible for advancing development, positioning projects, and negotiating with customers and partners to bring the Glydways solution to market successfully.

With over 15 years of experience in infrastructure development and public-private partnerships (P3s), Frieder has played a key role in managing and structuring complex infrastructure partnerships. Prior to joining Glydways, he served as Vice President at Plenary Americas, a leading investor, developer, and manager of public infrastructure, where he specialized in structuring and delivering large-scale public-private infrastructure projects.

Frieder holds a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from McGill University and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Manitoba.
